About this course

Part of the Concrete Elegance series produced by The Building Centre and The Concrete Centre.

The provision of the new council offices and the full refurbishment of the existing Grade 2 listed Town Hall at Old Trafford.

The design is based around four distinct components:

Sensitive refurbishment of the existing town hall to create high quality meeting, conference and dining facilities
35,000 sq ft of new sustainable office space
A new highly transparent public reception and elegantly clad conference facility
A two storey high “Internal street” which acts as the main organizer of the building
The new building is an exposed concrete frame with post tensioned concrete floors, circular columns and stair cores and it works very well as a durable, monochrome backdrop to the interiors

Presentation by: Paul Norbury , 5 Plus Architects.
